Won't be watching it again, should've rented it off AV Indeed, although I don't consider it a flawless work (its increasing obsession with special effects, for me, detract from its power and dreamy qualities) it is nevertheless one of the more impressive depictions of self-destructive human behaviour, alongside the likes of The Lost Weekend, Network, 16 Years Of Alcohol and (the most direct comparator and, for me, superior) Danny Boyle's Trainspotting.

She spends most of her time watching TV, especially a particular self-help show. i cant give it 5 stars becuase of the fact it isnt perfect but it gets a well deserved 4. A mentally unstable veteran works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, where the perceived decadence and sleaze fuels his urge for violent action by attempting to liberate a presidential campaign worker and an underage prostitute. Overall this is a bleak ride, but a wonderful example of visceral film-making. I was not a fan of director Darren Aronofsky's debut film "Pi," but with this movie he proves to be a filmmaker of unlimited vision and style. One of the best low-budget movies I've seen. Because it is those things. Just an honest but quirky look at modern American life not often explored in film—especially in the gritty, in your face, warts and all way it’s done here. The acting is fantastic and the darkness of the tale is evident from start to finish, however I believe that this is a true modern masterpiece of film making and almost like no other.
